Danish EG Electric Locomotive.
DSB GODS, the cargo division of DSB (Danish State Railways)
ordered 13
Class EG Locomotives from German company Siemens AG Verkehrstechnik
/ Krauss-Maffei in 1997. When the Great Belt Tunnel were opened,
many trains had to be run with class EA locomotives, working in
double or even triple. Hence the need for a new more powerful type
of locomotive. They are dual system locomotives, capable of working
with both the Danish 25kV 50Hz and the Swedish and German 15kV 16
2/3 Hz current. The locomotives are based on the German "Eurosprinter"
design (known as DB class 127 001). The livery is simply stunning!
DSB GODS is now part of Railion, operating as Railion Denmark, and
sadly no longer carries "GODS" markings.

The
Model.
This is my first attempt to design a version of the
awesome EG. It was designed using MLCad.
The "GODS" text is much to big, but I think it's more fun to build
the text with bricks and plates, rather than using stickers. I would
love to build two of these fantastic looking locomotives, with real
bricks, but all those dark blue pieces, are just about impossible
to get! Special thanks to James Mathis for inspiration.
Length over buffer: 41 Studs
Max height: 15 1/3 Studs
Width: 6+ Studs |
